5 tips for reducing pimples
We’ve all been there before. That place as a teenager where your face has more pimples than you ever thought possible. Acne is no joke but it happens to the large majority of people in their teenage years.
Luckily, teenage acne is generally hormonal and once your hormone levels even out it will fade and go away – usually. Nonetheless, if you’re a teen who is struggling with acne right now, there are things you can do to manage it until such a time where it clears up. Here are some of the best ways to deal with your teenage acne.
#1 Wash Your Face Twice a Day
This is a general, cardinal rule. As a teenager, your body is pumping with hormones that have gone haywire. This causes a number of different changes including more oily skin. The excess oil can often times mix with dirt and other bacteria and wind up clogging your pores. This clog can then become infected and form into what you know as a pimple. By washing your face twice daily you are removing the dirt, excess oil, and bacteria that can cause these issues and reduce your chance of getting acne.
#2 Use Products Made for Your Skin Type
Far too many teenagers make the mistake of using a face wash just because their best friend uses it and her skin is “perfect”. This is a HUGE mistake. There are so many different types of face wash for a reason. That reason being everybody’s skin is different.
Your friend could have dry skin and uses a product made for that but you have oily skin and those same products can actually be doing more harm than good. Make sure you’re assessing your skin type before using any face washes or other products.
#3 ALWAYS Moisturize
No matter how oily you think your skin is, you need to moisturize. Many teens make the mistake of washing their face with really drying, anti-acne, products that do work to eliminate acne, but then leave their skin very dry. The only problem is that dry skin can actually be a cause for acne! So make sure that whenever you’re finished washing your face you’re applying a thin layer of moisturizer.
#4 Use a Face Mask Once a Week
There are many face masks out there that do great wonders for your teenage acne. They deep clean, exfoliate, and kill acne-causing bacteria. You can buy face masks in the store or there are many at home DIY face masks that are easy to use and very effective. Do this once a week for a regular exfoliation and a deep clean.
#5 Don’t Overdo It
Simple is key when fighting off your teenage acne. Washing too much and doing too many face masks can actually just make your acne worse. Your best bet is to keep things simple and stick to a strict routine of washing, moisturizing, and exfoliating with a face mask once a week. This is the best way to keep your teenage acne in check.
Teenage acne can be tough for some people, but there are so many different ways to manage it. Just stick to these 5 simple tips and you’ll ward off that pesky acne!
